Savannah United Recreational Program

Recreational soccer is the foundation of our club! We are the largest and most highly rated recreational soccer program in Chatham County because of the effort and attention we and our volunteer coaches give to every player. Recreational soccer marks the first playing experience for many children, which is why it is known as the grassroots of the club. Practices are geared towards learning the sport, individual skills, coordination development, and FUN! No tryouts are required.

Savannah United Recreational Soccer is a program primarily devoted to the enjoyment and development of soccer players without the emphasis on travel or high-level competition. The purpose of recreational soccer is to provide an opportunity for the participants to have fun, learn the sport, and develop life skills including a life-long love of the game. Our Recreational Program includes:
▪         ALL Volunteer Coaches
▪         Players of all skill levels
▪         Less competitive play
▪         Players assigned to teams in a random manner based only practice day request
▪         Biannual shuffling of players and teams
▪         Practice once (1) a week
▪         Games every Saturday (8 games total)

Our recreational program has two seasons, Fall and Spring. The fall season runs from September through November and the spring season runs from March through May. Each division has one (1) practice per week and games each Saturday (8 games total).

Program Cost:
Recreational program registration fee is $100.00 plus uniform kit purchase if needed (includes: player insurance, GA Soccer registration, administration fee, field rental, and referee fee).

Practice:
Weekly practices are held Monday through Thursday and available at Jennifer Ross Soccer Complex or Abolt Obrien Field on Wilmington Island. ALL games are held on Saturdays at Jennifer Ross Soccer Complex. Division practice times are as follows:
▪         U6, Monday-Thursday, 5:30-6:30PM
▪         U8, Monday-Thursday, 6:30-7:30PM
▪         U10 – U15, Monday-Thursday, 5:30-7:00PM

Team Placement:
Considering that many of our participants and volunteer coaches have played/coached with the same team for multiple seasons we have created a Team Registration for each division in addition to individual registration which we have always had. The team registration MUST be done by the volunteer head coach and will allow them to create their own teams and invite players (save your roster contacts from this season because you will need email addresses for all players you are inviting on your team)! Although teams will be created by the volunteer head coach, registration fees will be paid by the individual players invited to the team. Each team will have a minimum and maximum number of players allowed on the team based on the division. Any volunteer coach wanting to take advantage of this new registration feature please ensure you have the email addresses for all the players/parents that you would like on your team, as this is how you will send out the invite for them to join your team.

For individual registration participants, team assignments will be done in a random manner based on practice day request. Which means, biannually (fall and spring), players and teams will be shuffled. We promise you will have a great season!

Uniform Information:
ALL players MUST purchase a uniform. Our uniform kits are good for two years or 4 seasons (The current uniform kits are good through the 2020 Fall Season). Cleats and Shin Guards are not included but are REQUIRED.

▪         Divisions U6 and U8 (MICRO KIT) - $60.25 plus tax and registration fee
▪         Divisions U10 – U15 (REC KIT) - $86.21 plus tax and registration fee
